"The Spirit of Folk"
From a gathering of local folkies back in 1996, Wintermoon has grown to be an event which offers an exciting variety of music and attracts an audience of all ages and from all walks of life, who gather to share in the joy that Wintermoon brings.
The Festival is held on a beautiful property at Cameron's Pocket, halfway between Mackay and Proserpine, set against the stunning backdrop of Eungella National Park. It is bordered by picturesque St Helens Creek, which flows all year and provides a great swimming hole for our guests and performers to cool off, if they can tear themselves away from the music and other seductive attractions on offer.
The festival not only boasts some of the best world music performers from Australia, but also showcases some of our local talent on three stages strategically placed at various locations within the grounds. Colourful market stalls, food stalls, kiddies activities, craft and music workshops dot the landscape.
There is a particular focus on family, and we aim to provide an exhilarating musical experience for all ages in a safe and friendly environment.
In the words of Bruce Watson, "Everyone smiles 'hello' as you wander around. It's the friendliest festival I know. You feel like part of a community, not a festival-goer", and regarding our program, "Wintermoon punches above its weight in terms of the calibre and profile of national acts".
Wintermoon 2016 heralds our 20th festival and the return of our Labour Day long weekend. Yay! Tickets are on sale from November 1st.
Please see 'camping policy' for information regarding our 4 camping sites.
If you are travelling from interstate and give us prior notice, we can arrange pick up from Mackay airport (for a small fee).
'Set up' is welcome from Friday April 22nd (Anzac day weekend). Overnight stays up until the commencement of the festival are $10 per head per night.
We look forward to sharing our beautiful festival with you. Come and join us in the Pocket!
